We’re bringing the environmental community together with a new event: The Confluence

Looking to connect with others in the environmental sector? Join us for this Friday night mixer designed to spark honest conversations, new relationships, and bold ideas.

Working in the environmental sector can be isolating. How many colleagues do you know purely by their email sign-off, or a small thumbnail in a zoom meeting? It’s time we changed that.

On April 24th, Raincoast is hosting The Confluence, an environmental mixer at the Fraser River Discovery Centre. The evening will feature a keynote talk by Jason Hwang, Vice-President of the Pacific Salmon Foundation, as well as small-group discussions focused on how the environmental sector can adapt to the changing times. We’ll share good food courtesy of Columbia Street Sandwich Company and craft soda by Indigenous-owned Heartberry Soda.

Faces of the Fraser: The Confluence

Faces of the Fraser is an informal opportunity for the community to learn more about the role played by the mighty Fraser in our daily lives. Presentations are followed by a Q&A session.

Working in the environmental field can sometimes feel isolating. This event brings professionals together for thought-provoking discussions, community-building, and meaningful networking. The evening will begin with a keynote by Jason Hwang, Vice President of the Pacific Salmon Foundation, followed by facilitated small-group activities exploring how our field can adapt to a changing political landscape – what to watch for in the coming years and what we may need to rethink or leave behind.

Keynote speaker, Jason Hwang

Jason Hwang is Chief Program Officer & Vice President, Salmon, at Pacific Salmon Foundation. Jason began as a habitat biologist at Fisheries and Oceans Canada for the BC Interior North region. Growing up in North Delta, he fished on weekends and was naturally drawn to what was under the water’s surface. Now, he oversees and supports all PSF salmon initiatives, working with First Nations, crown government agencies, other NGOs, academia, and industry.
