How will our upcoming killer whale study help endangered Southern Resident killer whales?

Sit down with our Cetacean Conservation Research Program Director, Dr. Valeria Vergara, to answer this question.

There are only 74 Southern Resident killer whales left, and killer whale habitat health is deteriorating before our eyes (and ears). The noise that is emitted underwater from vessel traffic masks their calls, threatening their survival. But we’re listening, and acting.

We’re bringing together decades of field biology and ecological knowledge of the whales with new analytical tools to understand killer whale communication and advocate for them.

We can’t let them go unheard. Help us give killer whales a voice.
