Ben Fox

Ben was born in Victoria, BC, where he still lives and paints. A multi-disciplinary artist, he creates in paint, film, and photography. He has documented postwar issues in Mozambique for over a decade.

Closer to home, he has created photographic series on Ft. McMurray, the Fraser River, the oil and gas industry in the Peace Country, and the pristine beaches of Haida Gwaii. These experiences have given him first-hand insight into the risks associated with pipelines and the movement and extraction of oil. His photographic explorations have led him back to his beginnings as an artist—painting—and informed his vision and understanding of the world around him.

Ben’s paintings reflect his deep love for the forests, rivers, and coastlines of BC and their ancient purpose and vitality. He creates compositions that speak to the power and strength of a landscape that is both immense and also warm and beckoning.
