The letter, asking whether Canada will permit killer whale extinction, identifies Canada’s conflicting aspirations and obligations to protect biodiversity while continuing to permit megaprojects that destroy the critical habitat of threatened and endangered species.
To ensure that these goals are achieved, the participants of Nature Canada met with Members of Parliament from across jurisdictions to discuss a federal Action Plan that will implement the GBF within 2023.
Raincoast’s focus at COP 15 has extended beyond our usual BC-based conservation focus to advance ways to implement these world-wide biodiversity targets.
