Original Joe's & Okanagan Spring Brewery support Raincoast through Community Pint Program
Regional fundraiser to donate proceeds to Raincoast
VICTORIA, B.C. – Original Joe’s Restaurant and Bar (OJ’s), one of Canada’s fastest growing casual dining establishments, in partnership with Okanagan Spring Brewery, will raise funds for the Raincoast Conservation Foundation over the next four months through its community pint program in OJ’s locations on Vancouver Island.
OJ’s popular community pint program, part of their overall community program called the Community Care Fund, provides locations within set regions of Western Canada the opportunity to fundraise on behalf of a charity of their choice. A new beneficiary in each regional OJ’s market is selected every four months and 50 cents from a featured pint is donated to the cause. Between Oct. 16, 2013 and Feb. 3, 2014, Original Joe’s and Okanagan Spring Brewery will donate 25 cents each to the Raincoast Conservation Foundation for every Okanagan Spring pint sold at OJ’s locations on Vancouver Island.
“The community pint program makes it possible for us to give back to the community and we are pleased to be partnering with such a worthwhile cause on this initiative,” explains Rebecca Baich, Nanaimo and Duncan OJ’s franchisee.
“The partnership between OJ’s locations on the island and the Okanagan Spring Brewery is an opportunity for our customers to make a meaningful contribution to the community,” added Michelle Britton, Langford and Tuscany OJ’s franchisee.
The Raincoast Conservation Foundation’s dedicated team of conservationists and scientists use rigorous, peer-reviewed science and grassroots activism to further their conservation objectives. Raincoast partners with scientists, First Nations, local communities and NGOs to build support for decisions that protect marine and rainforest habitat on BC’s coast.
“It is a privilege to be selected as part of the Original Joe’s community pint program,” says Chris Genovali, executive director of the Raincoast Conservation Foundation. “Support from community partners like OJ’s provides us with the resources necessary to carry out our mandate to protect the lands, waters and wildlife of coastal British Columbia.”
OJ’s is known throughout Western Canada as a neighbourhood restaurant and pub with a down-to-earth and friendly atmosphere. Featuring fresh and tasty meals year round, as well as great patios for guests to enjoy the mild Island weather, OJ’s satisfies guests’ cravings with made-from-scratch comfort food and daily specials. OJ’s locations in Duncan, Nanaimo, Langford and Saanich will all feature a selection of Okanagan Spring draughts.
OJ’s has 60 locations across Western Canada, including four locations on Vancouver Island.
