SUMMARY:Forest walk with Priya Puri\, at the Fraser River Discovery Centre\, RiverFest
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what makes a forest healthy? In this immersive workshop\, you will explore the ecosystems of Mundy Park to learn about all things forest health. Using real field tools and guides\, you will discover the ecological connections and species that work together to make a healthy forest. Taking a closer look at different species of fungi\, you will learn their role in forest structure and diversity. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of forest health and ecology\, as well as how to monitor and study natural environments. \n\n\n\nLearn more\n\nRegister now\n\n\n\nLocation: Mundy Park – meet at the south entrance at Hickey and King Albert (location).  \n\n\n\n\nFree parking is available along the road and in the neighbourhood (be cautious of no-parking signs directly in front of the park entrance).\n\n\n\nThere are also several public transportation stops close to the park entrance.\n\n\n\n\nCapacity: 15Age: 12-16+ \n\n\n\nWhat to wear: Dress appropriately for the weather as this event will occur rain or shine. Come prepared by wearing adequate sun or rain protection. As we will be in a forest\, long pants\, tall socks\, and closed-toed shoes are strongly recommended. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: All supplies will be provided. A small bag/backpack with a water bottle\, a snack\, and any other personal items you may require is okay to bring with you. \n\n\n\nThis event is taking place as part of the Fraser River Discovery Centre’s RiverFest. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate National Forest Week at KELÁ_EKE Kingfisher Forest. \n\n\n\nNational Forest Week  is celebrated annually in the third week of September\, this year taking place from September 20th – 26th\, 2026. The theme of this year’s National Forest Week is “Forest Pathways: Innovation and Sustainability”\, with daily sub-themes for each day of the week and several contests happening all week long. \n\n\n\nOn Tuesday\, September 22nd from 1:30 – 3:30 PM\, join Priya\, Raincoast’s Forest Conservation Program Coordinator\, to explore the daily sub-theme of “Smart Monitoring & Management in our Forests” through an immersive walk and talk at KELÁ_EKE Kingfisher Forest. From engaging our senses through forest bathing\, to learning about forest monitoring techniques\, to seeing the real-time impacts of active forest management in KELÁ_EKE Kingfisher Forest\, we will learn all about what it means to monitor and manage a forest nature reserve.
