DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of community connection\, sustainability\, and climate action at the False Creek Community Placemaking Festival! Hosted by the UBC Sustainability Ambassadors in celebration of SDG Month\, this event brings together local organizations\, advocates\, and community leaders working toward a more resilient\, equitable\, and climate-conscious False Creek. \n\n\n\nPlacemaking is about more than just physical space. It’s about relationships: to the land\, to water\, to food systems\, to mobility\, and to each other. Through interactive booths\, community dialogue\, and hands-on activities\, people of all ages can explore how sustainability and climate justice contribute to vibrant\, inclusive spaces in our city. \n\n\n\nFalse Creek\, outside Science World\n\n\n\nJoin us at 11am to 2pm\, Saturday\, March 7\, at False Creek\, outside of Science World.  Peter Ross will there with Tracker\, Raincoast’s mobile lab.  \n\n\n\nExperiential fun\n\n\n\n\nInteractive booths highlighting climate action\, food systems\, transportation\, and environmental justice \n\n\n\nOpportunities to learn about local initiatives shaping False Creek \n\n\n\nConversations about how we move through\, care for\, and belong in our city \n\n\n\nPractical ways to get involved locally\n\n\n\n\nWhether you live nearby\, pass through often\, or are visiting for the day\, this event invites you to reflect on your connection to False Creek and imagine the future together. \n\n\n\nHealthy Waters\n\n\n\nWorking with Indigenous communities and organizational partners\, Healthy Waters has built a community-oriented water pollution monitoring capacity that is providing insight into the quality of water for human consumption and for the habitats of salmon and whales. More about Healthy Waters. \n\n\n\nPeter Ross\, PhD\n\n\n\nDr. Peter S. Ross is an internationally recognized ocean pollution expert\, having published over 160 scientific articles and book chapters on pollutants of concern in the oceans\, and impacts on fish\, seals\, and whales.
