Carol Young Bagshaw

Carol is a descendent of the Eagles of Haida Gwaii, and her clan is the Tsiij git’anee.

In 2009 she attended the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art under the direction of world-renowned carvers Ken McNeil, Stan Bevan, and Dempsey Bob. She is forever grateful to her instructors and peers for sharing their knowledge and passion.

For thousands of years the land, ocean, and sky have provided for us, and now it is time for the people to give back, be grateful, and protect these gifts we have been given. Carol’s role as a Haida woman and artist is to do just that. Carving alder and cedar, she carves the eagles, whales, ravens, salmon, otters, frogs, bears, etc., that are part of her; they are her family. We are all connected, and we all need each other to survive on this beautiful Earth.

Support our mobile lab, Tracker!

Our new mobile lab will enable the Healthy Waters Program to deliver capacity, learning, and training to watershed-based communities. We need your support to convert the vehicle and equip it with lab instrumentation. This will allow us to deliver insight into pollutants of concern in local watersheds, and contribute to solution-oriented practices that protect and restore fish habitat.
