Roberta Sutherland

Roberta was born and raised on BC’s West Coast never far from a shoreline. She attended Emily Carr College of Art + Design and received a BFA from the University of Victoria.

Her varied experiences have included working with CUSO in East Africa, training in print making in the UK, and studying Zen and calligraphy in Japan. She has had painting residencies at Banff Centre and Bau Insitute in Italy. She has also served as a mentor for the Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts. Roberta’s work has been collected by the Canada Council and public galleries. In 2012 she was the Geneva Editart “Cercle des Amis” artist. For inspiration she is grateful to Jack Wise and the Northwest School. She has a lifelong fascination with the patterns of nature and how they repeat themselves in all of creation. Her main studio is at Grassy Point, Hornby Island, BC.

Support our mobile lab, Tracker!

Our new mobile lab will enable the Healthy Waters Program to deliver capacity, learning, and training to watershed-based communities. We need your support to convert the vehicle and equip it with lab instrumentation. This will allow us to deliver insight into pollutants of concern in local watersheds, and contribute to solution-oriented practices that protect and restore fish habitat.
